ENERGY STAR® Appliances
Save Energy with Your Appliances
New appliances are not only a great facelift, they can also help you save big in the long run. Every appliance comes with two price tags: the purchase price and the cost of operating the product. ENERGY STAR ® certified appliances help you save money by reducing energy use without sacrificing performance. In fact, ENERGY STAR certified appliances use 10 to 50 percent less energy than standard appliances.
Here are a few facts to consider:
- WASHERS: ENERGY STAR certified clothes washers use about 25 percent less energy and 40 percent less water than regular washers. A full-sized ENERGY STAR certified clothes washer uses about 13 gallons of water per load, compared to the 23 gallons used by a standard machine. That’s a savings of more than 3,000 gallons of water per year.
- REFRIGERATORS: Refrigerators 15 years or older use twice as much energy as a new ENERGY STAR model. You can save as much as $260 over the next five years when replacing an old refrigerator with ENERGY STAR. Recycle your old one to save even more and to help the environment.
- AIR PURIFIERS: ENERGY STAR certified room air purifiers are 40 percent more energy-efficient than standard new models, saving consumers about 225 kWh/year and $25 annually on utility bills. These savings could add up to $215 over its lifetime.
- POOL PUMPS: Pool pumps that have earned the ENERGY STAR certification use up to 70% less energy than standard pool pumps, run quieter and prolong the life of your pool’s filtering system.
